Coming in October / November: Macro / Close-Up

As we are heading into autumn in the Northern Hemisphere and spring in the Southern Hemisphere, I thought macro or close-up photography would give us some amazing opportunities for this two month challenge. And believe me, this will be a proper challenge for myself, too!

How you interpret this is entirely up to you. Whether they are insects, leaves, or mushrooms—abstract or not, it is all up to you! Everything is allowed as long as it resembles some kind of enlargement of the original subject that counts as macro or close-up.

Guidelines for Everyone

We want this challenge to be a fun and welcoming space for photographers of all ages and backgrounds. To keep it that way, please follow these simple ground rules:

  • Family-Friendly Content: Please keep all submissions family-friendly. This means no nudity, graphic violence, politically motivated content, or highly controversial and provocative subject matter.

  • Originality: Please only submit work that you have captured yourself.

  • Permissions: If your image features people, please ensure you have the proper model release or permission to use their likeness.

Important Dates

  • Submissions: The upload form will open on October 1st. Keep an eye on this page, as you can start sending in your entries then!

  • Display: All images will be visible in the gallery below after October 1st once they are uploaded.

  • Voting: The voting phase will officially begin on December 1st.
